Deadwooding & Crown Reducing (for Southampton City Council) - Andrews Park, Southampton
by Daniel Green

CHTS were asked by Southampton City Council to attend site at Andrews Park and work on the general maintenance and good keeping of the varied tree species the park hosts.
We arranged for a domestic surveyor to attend the site and record their findings and note any works required to these trees, including any specialist equipment that would be needed to complete this job safely. With this information, they were able to create an appropriate work method statement and risk assessment.
A domestic work team attended site to proceed with the works. Exclusion zones were set up around the trees that required attention so that the general public and park users would not be injured from falling timber during the works. Each tree was climbed and most of the works were achievable using silky saws. A groundsman was in place with each climber to remove the cut timber and alert members of the public of any dangers.
The cut timber was processed and chipped on site and brought back to our waste management facility at Lepe Farm.
