Deadwooding (for Eastleigh Borough Council) - Bursledon, Eastleigh

CHTS were asked by Eastleigh Borough Council to attend a busy road in Bursledon to deadwood a large roadside tree that had dropped several limbs.

We arranged for a domestic surveyor to attend the site and record their findings and note any works required to these trees, including any specialist equipment that would be needed to complete this job safely. With this information, they were able to create an appropriate work method statement and risk assessment. It was at this stage that it was determined that traffic management would be required to complete the works.

R&W set up a set of 2-way traffic lights on the busy road so that we could close a single lane under the tree and prevent any cars and pedestrians from being injured by falling timber. Our domestic team that attended site were able to park in the closed lane and used a combination of MEWP and climbing to remove the dead limbs from the crown of the tree and complete the works in a single day to avoid lengthy delays for motorists using the road.

The cut timber was chipped and processed on site and brought back to our waste management facility.
