Eco Plugging - Woodlands, New Forest

CHTS were asked by a domestic client to remove a tree and the resulting stump to reduce the root damage that the tree was creating to their driveway.

We arranged for a domestic surveyor to attend the site and record their findings and note any works required to these trees, including any specialist equipment that would be needed to complete this job safely. With this information, they were able to create an appropriate work method statement and risk assessment. It was at this stage it was determined that we would be unable to use a stump grinder to remove the stump due to underground service wires.

One of our domestic crews attended site to complete these works and following the removal of the tree they set about Eco Plugging the stump. Firstly a set of holes was drilled into the stump approximately 2 inches apart. The Eco Plugs were then set into these holes before being knocked in with a mallet. This cracks the Eco Plug allowing the plug to start the decaying process on the stump. This technique is often used when a stump grinder is not useable but does take a couple of years to work.
