Utility Arboriculture (Continued) - Alderbury, Wiltshire
by Daniel Green

We returned to the site to see the final day of felling at this utility site in Alderbury, Wiltshire.
Following the removal of most of the crowns of these Poplar trees we were able to bring in the tractor mounted winch to assist with the felling of the main stems. Firstly Arborists Ashley and Terry stripped the main stems of Ivy so the winch could be attached. Field Supervisor Trevor was on hand to perform the felling cuts, assisted by the winch to ensure the trees fell away from the overhead power lines.
All of the timber created was left on site to be removed by Scottish and Southern Electric at a later date.
