Utility Arboriculture - Alderbury, Wiltshire
by Daniel Green

CHTS were instructed by Scottish and Southern Electric to attend a site in Alderbury to remove a set of Poplar trees that were within falling distance of some overhead power lines.
We arranged for a Field Supervisor to attend the site and record their findings and note any works required to these trees, including any specialist equipment that would be needed to complete this job safely. With this information, they were able to create an appropriate work method statement and risk assessment.
One of our Utility Arboriculture teams attended site with the Field Supervisor to begin the works. They firstly went through a set of talks about the works, risks and dangers about the site. With these talks completed Utility Arborist Ashley took the climb and started to remove the crowns of the trees, leaving the main stems to be felled later in the week.
All of the timber created from these works were stacked into the woodland to be processed at a later date.
