Tree Planting - Lymington, Hampshire
by Daniel Green

CHTS were asked by a local authority to quote for the planting of several trees in public areas around Lymington Town Centre.
We arranged for a domestic surveyor to attend the site and record their findings and note any works required to these trees, including any specialist equipment that would be needed to complete this job safely. With this information, they were able to create an appropriate work method statement and risk assessment.
One of our domestic teams was on hand to complete these planting works. They start by digging a pit and positioning the tree in the centre of the pit. They then put 2 supporting posts into the ground and a cross beam to eventually attach the tree too. The pit was then backfilled using a soil and mulch mix , rich with nutrients to help the tree grow in its infancy. The tree is then attached to the cross beam allowing a small amount of movement but also protecting it from adverse weather conditions like strong winds in the coming winter.
