Site Clearance (for Scottish & Southern Electric) - New Forest, Hampshire
by Daniel Green

The Utility department at CHTS was tasked with some site clearance works in the New Forest area by Scottish and Southern Electric.
The area had become overgrown and much of the vegetation had grown into what is called the live zone, below and around the power lines that stood in this area of woodland.
We arranged for a Utility Field Supervisor to attend the site and record their findings and note any works required to these trees and vegetation, including any specialist equipment that would be needed to complete this job safely. With this information, they were able to create an appropriate work method statement and risk assessment.
During the first days of this work, it was determined that the best course of action would be to use the tractor mounted mulcher to bring the brash down to ground level.
Check back next week for a look at the results of this clearance works.
