Tree Felling (Monkey Puzzle) - Southampton, Hampshire
by Daniel Green
CHTS were asked by a domestic client to price for the removal of this large Monkey Puzzle tree from the front of their property in Southampton. The tree had outgrown the garden and was growing towards the property and over service wires.
We arranged for a domestic surveyor to attend the site and record their findings and note any works required to these trees, including any specialist equipment that would be needed to complete this job safely. With this information, they were able to create an appropriate work method statement and risk assessment.
When the team arrived on site, Team Leader Henry took the task of climbing, clearing the spiky limbs one at a time until the entire crown had been removed. He had to take care dropping the limbs into the front garden as not to hit any of the service wires that were located below the tree. With the crown cleared Henry then chogged down the main stem to ground level.
All of the limbs were processed and chipped on site by the groundsmen. The woodchip and larger timber were then brought back to our waste management facility at Exbury.
