Oak Crown Reduction - New Park, Brockenhurst
by Daniel Green
Once again we were asked by the Forestry Commission and the National Park service to perform the required tree works as a result of the Picus Tomograph tests we previously did for them.
The surveyor deemed a 2-3 metre crown reduction was required to reduce the weight of the major limbs of this tree due to its prominent location within the New Park Showground.
Team Leader Jez took the climb for day 1 of this 2 day job and reduced each limb by between 2 and 3 metres to appropriate growth points leaving the crown in a natural and balanced shape.
The brash was processed and removed from site whilst all of the larger timber was stacked for the showground workers to remove.
